He began his academic activity in the same University and proceeded in his academic career at University of Milan, Faculty of Political Sciences.
Currently he is Demography full professor at University of Milan Bicocca, Department of Statistics and Quantitative Methods (DiSMeQ).
Director of Department of Statistics at University of Milan-Bicocca, 1998-2002 and 2009-2012 and vice Director of DiSMeQ since 2012.
Scientific collaboration with several institutions (Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Social Affairs, Istat).
Member of The Government Expert Group on Demographic Issues of The European Commission Bruxelles.
